Memorial Day Open House!

Ok, so it’s last minute, but I couldn’t resist!  I got a peek at the new catalog and now I know what’s retiring…….  The list comes out on June 1st, but you can have a sneak peek on May 31st!

I know a lot of you are busy on Memorial Day, but I never am, and would love some company!  So, if you’re not busy or if you have an hour or two to spare, drop by for some fun.  And what kind of fun would that be?  Well, let me tell you!

May Stamp Club Samples

This month’s Stamp Club technique was actually 2 different ones.  First was water coloring with markers and second was a brick wall.  I went through a few samples to come up with the one I liked best.  Which one is your favorite?  Leave me a comment and tell me which one and why!

You can find a brick wall tutorial here at splitcoaststampers.com.  I love this look but it is a bit tedious!

 

Achieving a water colored look with markers is easy.  Use your marker to color directly on your stamp.  For the flowers I used 2 different colors, applying the lighter one first then a darker one on the edges.  I did the same for the stems.

 Tip: When applying 2 colors together always apply the lighter one first, this will keep it from being discolored by the darker one.  Don’t worry about blending the 2 together, that happens in the next step.   

Next, spray your entire stamp with water.  The finer the mist the better.  Make sure that it’s quite wet. Then stamp your image and your done!  This is a fun one to play around with.  You can achieve so many different looks by adjusting the amount of water you use and whether you stamp it immediately or wait a minute to let it dry a little.

To give the entire card more texture and a weathered look I used my color spritzer.  I’m always forgetting about it and then when I pick it up again, I wonder why I don’t use it more often!

Tip:  When using the color spritzer try using 2 or  3 colors.  This will really give your card depth and interest.  Also practice on a scrap piece before spraying your card or image. I found that it spritzes different every time and you’d hate to put a big blob on your card!

Milk Carton die - Watering Can

These things are just too cute! You can use this fun water can for so many things.  Fill it with candy for a party favor.  Decorate your table using these as your place cards.  I have a cupcake tree and these fit perfectly on them and make a great spring display.

 

After you run your paper through the Big Shot, with the milk carton die, put it back through using the polka dot impressions folder.  It really adds some thing to the carton. Cut a thin strip of cardstock and adhere it to your carton as the handle. Then just decorate to your taste.

Quick N’ Easy Stamp-a-Stack

Create 20 all occasion cards in just a couple hours!

We all love creating cards but we never seem to have any on hand when we need one.  Now you’ll have plenty on hand for any occasion! We’ll be making 5 cards in each of 4 different styles using only 1 stamp set. You’ll be using a different technique for each set, but don’t worry they really are Quick N’ Easy.

This is a great stamp set and very versatile. Below are some really nice samples of this set.  Since this is included in your class fee you can continue to create simple yet elegant cards.
