Birthday Card Making Day

Once a quarter, or sooner if needed, the women from our Encouragement Ministry at my church get together and make birthday, wedding shower, baby shower, get well and encouragement cards.  Last week we got together to make birthday cards.  We needed enough cards to cover birthdays through January.  There were 7 or 8 of us and we ended up making 56 cards in about 2 hours.  These ladies rock!

I have so much fun getting together with these ladies.  It’s wonderful to watch them make these cards, especially those who have never stamped before.  I love to see their enthusiasm and joy when they realize that they can do it!

I tried to use retired colors and ribbons for these cards.  It definitely challenges me when I have to stay within a  certain color scheme or certain set of supplies.  I’m more of a free spirit and don’t like restrictions!!!

Think this one is my favorite of the 4 cards.  I was inspired by a card made by Carrie Gaskin.  I can’t find it on her blog now, but you should take a look at the other things she has created!

This is my second favorite, and my design.  :0)  I think I’ll try it again with current colors.  This one is in Mellow Moss and Dusty Durango.  I’m thinking maybe Cajun Craze and Old Olive…

This is a super fast and super cute card.  I love using my aqua painter.  I could sit all day and just paint card after card.  I must not have done enough coloring when I was but a young lass…..

I was inspired by a demonstrator named Debbie Henderson for this card.  I don’t know where I found her card so I can’t share the link, sorry!

The color is off on the photo.  The card is actually Rich Razzleberry.  The new impressions folder is great! She’s also sprayed it with the silver Smooch Spritz.

The Leaves are Falling in the Fall, They Fall Far in the Fall….

Sorry, just paying a little homage to Clifford the Big Red Dog.  If you’ve every seen this particular episode (20 times), it’s really hard to get this little tune out of your head!  It just keeps coming back every fall.

Here are the swaps I received at our team meeting.

This first one isn’t a swap, it’s sample Linda brought. I love how cheery it is.

This is so beautiful in person.  My camera just doesn’t do it justice!  The leaves are clear embossed and then sponged over.

L-Inked Together Team Meeting Swap

“Fall/Halloween” is our theme, for this months team meeting. Yay!  I love fall colors!  I know some of you are laughing and thinking “really, I wouldn’t have guessed!”. lol I don’t mind venturing out into different color schemes, well not much anyway, but I always come back to the wonderful colors of fall.  Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, I think they are all just yummy!

My favorite season is spring. Although, it’s definitely not my favorite color scheme. Not sure what that’s all about….

Anyway, here’s my swap for this Sunday’s meeting:

P1130368_edited-1

I’m in love the the new Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper, that just came out in the new Holiday Mini!  The colors are very rich and it’s a heavier textured paper also.

Other Supplies:

  • XL Decorative Label punch - pg.25 - Holiday Mini,(Thanks Mandy for lending it to me!)
  • #2 Leaves Die - Big catalog
  • Impressions folder - Big catalog
  • Old Olive ink & card stock, Espresso ink, Naturals White card stock

The punch coordinates with the Tags til Christmas stamp set, which is also in the Holiday Mini.  I’ll be doing a class using that set, in early December, so be on the lookout for it.

If you haven’t seen the new Holiday Mini Catalog, don’t wait a moment longer, just click HERE!  There was a mix up in my usual mailing of mini catalogs and they didn’t get sent out.  I have some on order and will be getting them to you as soon as I can!

Thanks for looking!  Check out my previous post for classes going on this month.

L-inked Together Swaps & Samples

I am so far behind posting it’s not even funny!

Here are our swaps from last months unit meeting.  Our theme was Birthdays and we could only have 2 layers and one stamp set, I think.  The idea was to have cards that were easy to demonstrate and easy to make.

P1110915_edited-1

Here is the swap I made.  Okay, so I didn’t quite pay attention when Mandy gave us the theme and guideline.  I did only 2 layers and and one stamp set, plus a word set, and it seemed easy at the time… But I think I missed the mark.  It’s not quite as simple as the others and I totally didn’t do a birthday card.P1110887_edited-2

Here is my stepped up version.  LOL  Like the other one wasn’t complicated enough!

P1110892_edited-1

I was going for a vintage look and I’m not sure I achieved it.  It’s a little out of my comfort zone.

You Don’t Want to Miss This Years Gifts Galore. I’m Sure It’s Something You’ll Adore!

Teehee, I’m a poet and didn’t know it!  Seriously, if you’ve never been to this all day crafting event, this is the year to go.  If you’ve been in the past, this is the year to attend!  We’ve re-crafted Gifts Galore, and it is way better than before.  Oops, there I go again!

Gifts Galore!

All Day Gift-Making Event

Saturday, October 2nd

9:30 am -6:00 pm

County Line Methodist Church

Here are the highlights, if you’ve never been before:

  • All day crafting.  Structured for beginners and advanced crafters.
  • Door prizes awarded almost every hour.
  • Lunch catered by Sweet Tomatoes - Perimeter.
  • Fun with friends, or a chance to make new friends!
  • Talented demonstrators at each table giving you step by step instructions for each project.
  • Snacks and drinks
  • Great ideas for creating beautiful, yet, gorgeous gifts for friends and family.  Did I mentions that they’re very affordable to re-create?
  • You will take home 4-6 amazing projects, completed and ready to give as a gift, or keep, if you just can’t part with them.
  • Instructions to re-create any or all of them.

If you’ve been in the past, here are just some of the changes you won’t want to miss:

  • Relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time to complete each project.
  • Talented demonstrators showing great techniques and new products, during breaks and when you first arrive.

  • Order $40 at this event, and you’ll receive a Stampin’ Certificate towards $10 of FREE product and you could WIN a Hostess Stamp Set!
  • Chance to purchase raffle tickets for a really BIG prize!

I know I’m forgetting something, but I think you get the idea!

Financially, things are tight for everyone right now, but I want you to think of Gifts Galore as a wise investment for many reasons.  You can buy a “thing” and the thrill of it is gone in a day.  You can receive a gift from a friend, but it usually just ends up on a shelf doesn’t it? You can go out to dinner, but let’s face it, we all do that way too much and it’s really not a special treat anymore.  But, you can invest in Gifts Galore and make something “lasting”.  You make memories of a fun time with friends, or the meeting of new ones, and the memories just get better with age!  How about those memories of really messing up one of the projects?  LOL.  You can discover things about your own creativity that you never knew.  Now, don’t say you’re not creative!  We all are in one way or another.  You can learn to make gifts that when given, won’t be just another “thing” that will sit on a shelf, or end up in a garage sale (wink).  Your gifts will create a memory for yourself and someone else.  And, on the practical side, they are way cheaper to make than to buy.  Handmade gifts are a lost art.  Help me bring it back!!!

Okay, are you all jazzed up now and ready to change the world?  Then let’s go!  Head on over to our Gifts Galore blog and register* today.

  www.l-inkedbygiftsgalore.blogspot.com

You’re almost out of time to sign up and we’re almost out of spaces for you. New deadline is Tuesday, September 8th!

Grab a friend to come with you and you’ll receive a handmade gift from me!!!
