Before you take a look at the swaps, let me show you my helper.  Meet Rosie.  My husband went out for tadpole food about 2 months back and came home with her. Surprise!

She kept walking back and forth over the cards as I was trying to take pictures.  Then, she just plopped down in the middle of it all.  Needless to say, I had to evict her.

Here she is again…

Now I know there’s a lot to choose from, but I received so many good ones, it was hard to choose which ones to post!  Only one of these cards is mine.  The rest of them are from a lot of really talented demonstrators.

Gift Giving from the Heart

I don’t know about you, but I seriously thought about cancelling Christmas this year.  Well not Christmas, just the gift giving part.  We’ve had to tighten the belt at our house and of course, extras are the first thing to go.  Then I thought, I’ll just make gifts for everyone this year.  Nothing too complicated, just something special from the heart. Incredibly, the huge stamping and crafting event that I help put on every year, completely slipped my mind.  Gifts Galore is one of the best ways you can stretch your dollar, make some wonderful gifts, and not be a humbug by cancelling Christmas. :0)  Not only will you create great handmade gifts, but there will be huge displays and samples to inspire your gift giving for the entire year.

Club Projects

Whew!  Boy am I behind in posting, well, in just about everything.  But, for this post, I’m behind in posting pictures of the cards I made for club.

IMG_2727 copy

I saw this technique on Patty’s blog.  The 5th Avenue embossing folder was used on vellum cardstock, and the water color technique was done on the retired Textiles paper.

This is just the cutest way to give a gift card!

IMG_2732 copy

IMG_2739 copy

I’ve seen it all over the place, but learned how to make it at my upline’s unit meeting.  It looks much harder to make than it really is.

My every-other-month-club made this card.

P1070597 copy

We used a modified stained glass technique.  Stamp image with Stazon ink, flip it over and trace over image with embossing stylus, on paper piercing mat. Color on back side also.  It really gives it a 3d look.  I used both markers and aqua pen for these flowers.  I was going to use this as a swap for convention but never got all the pieces together.  I guess I’ll use them for the Regional in Chattanooga, in October!

My upline, Mandy (who is the greatest), used heavy duty foil on a Christmas card and it was so beautiful I had to try it.  In fact, my club members liked it so much, they want me to offer it for a Christmas card Stamp-a-stack!  Can’t complain about that, it’s just one less card I have to create for the season!

P1070564 copy

I used the texturz plate on the foil, what a wonderful technique.  It’s so simple, and yet it just makes the card pop.

The inside of this card also has pop-up.  All you have to do is score your base like usual, then using your Word Window punch, create the pop-up.  Slide the punch all the way in and line up the center-notch on the punch, with the score line on the cardstock, and punch .

P1070572 copy

Turn card around and punch from the other side. Fold card pushing center piece in, instead of out, with the card.

P1070576 copy

This is what it looks like with the card folded closed.  I cut a 4 1/4 x 4 piece of Whisper White and scored it at 2” on the 4” side.  I used the Eyelet border punch on both 4 1/4 sides.  If you didn’t use the border punch, your piece would only need to be 3 1/2 by 4.

P1070578 copy

P1070579 copy

Adhere Whisper White card stock to top of card to hide cut out.

P1070568 copyP1070567 copy

Adhere your sentiment, or whatever you would like, to the inside cut out and you’re done.

Jackie, one of my club members, is so creative that she always puts her own personal touch on each card.

P1070547 copy

I think I like hers better!  I also ran through another pattern to see what that would look like.

P1070583 copy

I’m thinking the polka dot or diamond pattern would look great on a guy card.  It reminds me of a guy’s work room or tool box.

For their 3d project, we covered composition notebooks.

P1070550 copy

I wish you could see this in real life.  It looks so cool, if I do say so myself!  The picture does not do this piece justice.

I used the Medallion stamp with Old Olive craft ink, stamped it on to a piece of Natural Ivory card stock, and heat embossed it.  I then used a sponge to rub Soft Suede (my favorite In-Color) classic ink over the embossed medallion, leaving the center lighter.  I also sponged the card stock leaving lighter areas, then filled-in with More Mustard classic ink in the lighter areas, and also over the Suede.  I basically just messed around with it until I liked it.  Using the Color Spritzer Tool, I sprayed Soft Suede (so glad they came out with In-Color markers!), Old Olive, and More Mustard all over.  I still wanted more texture/depth, so I got out my Itty Bitty Background stamp set.  I used the same colors as above, but made sure I stamped-off first so the colors wouldn’t be too dark.  It really, really came out better than I expected, especially since I thought it up about 4 hours before club.  Just don’t tell them!

Lots of things going on in my stamping world, so stay tuned.  I’ll be posting a fall/winter class schedule, Stampin’ Up! specials, and more details on Gifts Galore, etc…

**All supplies used are from Stampin’ Up! unless otherwise noted.
